On 7 December 2017 Paweł Gancarczyk and Bartłomiej Gembicki from the Warsaw team visited the Fryderyk Chopin Music School in Bytom (Upper Silesia). Paweł Gancarczyk held two classes with the pupils at the school, presenting the latest HERA-based research. He talked about the presence of the music of the past in the fifteenth and sixteenth centuries, as well as its functioning in contemporary culture. He used as examples compositions by Petrus Wilhelmi de Grudencz and Mikołaj Gomółka, explaining the complexity of the meaning of such concepts as “early music” and “Polish music”. Alongside the pupils, teachers of history of music from music schools in Bytom and Katowice also attended the classes.

After the classes Paweł Gancarczyk and Bartłomiej Gembicki held consultations with the teachers. Proposals were made for further educational activities to promote a creative and modern approach to some of the issues relating to the music in late-medieval and early modern Europe.
